The Gem Laboratory

Georgia’s only CERTIFIED GEMOLOGICAL LABORATORY by both the Accredited Gemologist Association & the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers

Gemcorp maintains a very well equipped gemological laboratory, which enables us to properly identify and grade gemstones, imitations, synthetics and their treatments as well as identify metals. While there are some materials that require more sophisticated and specialized testing, Gemcorp can handle most challenges presented in our lab. For assignments that take us out of the office, we have a Gemological Products Portable Gem Lab (Portalab).

We routinely use the following instruments:

  • GIA –Gem Instruments Binocular Darkfield Microscopes
  • A set of 8 Master Color Grading Diamonds graded & approved by both GIA & AGS
  • Scientech SE250 Electronic Scale, measuring to 0.000 ct.
